18 Jul Knucks – The Rapper, Producer – Mixing The old with the new
With raving reviews off the back of he’s recently released NRG 105 project, the Kilburn artist has become renowned for he’s seamless fusion of old school samples, with trap elements. From he’s debut project Killmatic in 2014, Knucks has created he’s own lane, and is very much at the head of the chasing pack.
He’s work received it’s just reward when he inked a deal with Island Records last year. Having an ear for both producing and rapping, the likes of Youngs Teflon & Producer Carns Hill, to MF Doom and Curren$y are few of the inspirations the Kilburn native draws upon.
“When I tell people [that I rap and produce] they’re like, ‘That must be difficult?’ but I think I’m at an advantage compared to the majority of rappers because I engineer my sound. I know how I want to sound and it’s not a thing where I have to try and explain it to someone, you get what I’m saying? I know exactly what I want.” Knucks
On he’s debut EP with Island, expect what Knucks does best, wordplay, engineering well wrapped to he’s sound (after all he did produce all the beats), and appearances from Wretch 32 and Blade Brown (whom Knucks has produced for, including on Brown’s forthcoming Bags & Boxes 4).
Look out for Knucks at Glastonbury performance highlights, a headline show off NRG 105 and he’s third appearance at The Great Escape Brighton, among other festival appearances this Summer.
