28 Feb Manchester City X Dsquared2
The rather synodic relationship forged between Sport and high fashion has finally quenched our insatiable desire to see our beloved Sporting enterprises draped by our favourite and most revered fashion brands.
Football or Soccer from wherever your reading this from, is, if not one of the biggest sports watched and played in the World, with its reach and influence almost limitless. Fashion, the material linguistics of us all was bound to join in unison with the ‘beautiful game’.
2 time and a very likely 3rd, Premier League winning football club, Manchester City announced in October 2016 a partnership with high-end Fashion retailer Dsquared2, renown for their detail-oriented denim tailoring.
Founders and designers Dan and Dean Caten cite their “passion for the game, and the faces of the team, as well as their close friendship with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola” as the driving forces behind the partnership.
The partnership will see Dsquared2 dress Manchester City’s players and coaching staff in their exclusive pre-match uniforms for all away UEFA Champions League games.
“The Look celebrates the youth, athleticism, and contemporary masculinity of these amazing and stylish players and their coach”
The Italian Fashion brand’s uniforms combine formal tailoring with off-duty denim and include a tailored navy jacket which features the City crest near the notch lapel.
In an ever smart casually growing world, Nuria Tarre, Chief Marketing Officer for City Football Group resonates this further as “the collaboration combines the exciting worlds of football and fashion”
